Proposed Changes to the EPA's Wood Heater NSPS Sent to White House for Review
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sent to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) the first part of proposed changes to the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for affected woodburning appliances. This is the first proposal of two, as announced by EPA in an April 2018 motion in response to HPBA's litigation. While it is unknown what exactly is in this first proposal, the OMB website indicates that it will address some sell-through concerns. HPBA will prepare comments in response and work with HPBA members on providing meaningful comments.
HPBA's legislative efforts continue in the Senate. For information on what retailers need to know about woodstove labels, view HPBA’s two-pager. Updates and more related to the NSPS can be found on HPBA’s website. Have questions? Please contact John Crouch at crouch@hpba.org.
