Academy is MWHPBA’s 2-day hands-on training event for service technicians and installers.  Attendees will learn valuable training and new techniques that make the installation process safe and efficient and help eliminate costly service callbacks.  Whether you sell these manufacturers' products or only service them in the field, this Academy is for everyone and is a great opportunity to brush up on your technical skills before the fireplace season. ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEMS & TROUBLESHOOTING (6 Technical CEUs)

The primary focus of this module is to provide attendees with an overview of the Dexen and SIT Electronic Ignition Systems currently used in hearth products and provide basic troubleshooting tactics for a technician to use in the field. Components used within the systems will be identified for the participants, we will cover the process flow for common test parameters a technician must perform in the field to get accurate readings, and much more.

SAFETY TRAINING (5 Total Safety CEUs)

PLUNGE INTO FALL PROTECTION (2 Safety CEUs)

Falling from a height is the most common cause of injuries and fatalities in construction. Participants will examine the OSHA standards which guide how to identify and provide protection measures to ensure workers’ safety while working at a height.

​

10:30 AM - 2 PM

THE UPS & DOWNS OF SCAFFOLDING (3 Safety CEUs)

Participants will learn to identify and correct scaffolding issues based on OSHA standards. This will jump start to becoming the competent person on the job site with scaffolding use.

​

Breakfast & lunch are provided & included in the registration fee.

Meeting Registration Fees

Registration fees include hands-on training sessions, lunch on Tuesday, and breakfast and lunch on Wednesday.  Tuesday night dinner is on your own.

Attire and Tools

Attendees are asked to dress as if they are on the job site and to please bring a multi-meter to this class. If you are attending with a group, only one multi-meter is needed as you will be working in groups of six.
