NFI Certification Days

The National Fireplace Institute (NFI) is the only national certification program designed for hearth product planners, installers and now sales personnel.  NFI Certification is recognized as the basis for a specialty license to install hearth products in a number of state, county and municipal jurisdictions, including Lawrence, Salina and Wichita, KS.  MWHPBA is offering several certification events throughout our four-state region this summer to ensure you and your employees are prepared for the upcoming selling season.

Certification Review Courses Offered this Summer

The NFI Gas Certification signifies that a technician has passed a rigorous exam covering a wide variety of topics that pertain to the proper planning and installation of gas hearth appliances.  Topics include codes and standards, valves, ignition systems, thermostats and remote controls, burners, fuel delivery, draft and ventilation principles venting installation guidelines, heat protection, installation regulations, troubleshooting and appendices on basic electricity, house pressure tests and tools and instruments.

The NEW Hearth Design Specialist certification is designed to give the sales personnel the information they need to make sure hearth appliances are planned properly well before the job gets to the installer.  This new certification covers the technical knowledge on combustion, heat transfer, safety and venting for all 3 fuel types, an introduction to codes, standards and regulations, and more.  All major hearth appliances are covered including fireplaces, gas log sets, fireplace inserts and free standing stoves.
