On April 14 2005, the EPA formally revised the list of 240+ counties in the U.S. that were designated earlier this year as “non-attainment” with new federal standards for fine particulates ( PM 2.5). Upon revision, some counties on the original list were re-classified as “attainment” based on new air quality data submitted by the states to EPA. The following counties have now been re-designated as “attainment.”

GA: Clarke, Muscogee
IN: Elkhart, St. Joseph, Delaware
KY: Fayette, Mercer (part)
WV: Marion, Monongalia, Harrison
OH: Lucas, Wood, Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana
PA: Mercer
AL: DeKalb, Etowah, Russell
TN: McMinn
CA: San Diego, Placer (part), Los Angeles (part)
